Hart Dairy’s recent acceptance into A Greener World’s Certified Regenerative pilot program is another example of how we put beliefs into practice, and how – every day – we are trying to make Simply. Better. Milk.

Before we explain why certifications are incredibly useful for both the farms and the consumers, let’s give you some background into the program.

The AGW certification takes a holistic approach, where the farmer develops a five-year regenerative plan. The farmers and experts assess risks together, set goals, and track progress toward meaningful milestones.

Some highlights of this third-party verification include demonstrating that our cows are on pasture and grass-fed for 365 days a year, all while using environmentally-sustainable practices to improve the soil, sequester carbon and conserve water.

“Working with organizations like AGW is crucial because it brings more transparency in the market, and the market deserves that,” Hart Dairy CEO Tim Connell said. “Consumers want an easy way to pick products that are aligned with what they believe in.”

At Hart Dairy, we believe that besides being the right thing to do, the combination of the humane treatment of animals, and using regenerative farming practices to help – not harm – the environment, provides products with superior nutrition.

In addition to joining the AGW Pilot Program, our milk is Certified Humane®, too. In fact, we’re the first pasteurized dairy cow milk sold in the United States to earn this certification.

Seems like common sense, doesn’t it?

Transparency and education are keys to help consumers make better choices. Packaging can use confusing terms, and can mislead consumers when it comes to labeling.

That’s unfair, and we are not the only ones that think so. Many local dairy farms in the United States are working to improve their practices. Others could, should – and eventually – will have to.
